    I.
    Roll Call

    A. A meeting of the Medford Urban Renewal Agency Marketing Committee was called to order at 5:35 p.m., in the Agency Conference Room, 45 South Holly Street, by Chair Jerry Ehlers, with the following Members and Staff in attendance:

    Minutes

    A. Marketing Committee Minutes of February 16, 2005

    It was moved, seconded and approved to accept the minutes of the February 16, 2005 Marketing Committee Meeting as presented.

    Communications from Audience

    Bill Dames introduced Michael Donovan, Marketing and Sales Director, Roxy Ann Winery to address the Committee concerning ?The Taste of History? event. Mr. Donovan and the Committee discussed the responsibilities of the wineries and the organization. Some of the items discussed were, tables to be set up for the wine pouring, napkins, ice buckets, linens, napkins with the logo, wine glasses, wrist bands and Nancy Passey suggested T-shirts with the event logo to be sold. Mr. Donovan emphasized glassware is critical in this type of event. Mr. Donovan can order the glasses for approximately $1.50 each glass with logo imprint. There will be a screen charge of approximately $40.00 - $50.00. Mr. Donovan also advised to stay away from printing the date of the event on the glasses. It was suggested that putting flyers at local bed and breakfast location was a good source of getting the word out about the event. ?The Taste of History? Committee invited Mr. Donovan to their March 30, 2005, 7:30 a.m. meeting.

    A. List of MURA Board of Directors

    Staff reported that Ms. Joy Pelikan has been appointed to the Medford Urban Renewal Agency Board of Directors. Ms. Pelikan fills the vacancy of previous Board member Gary Wheeler.

    Staff Reports

    A. Committee Interview with Cheryl Conway

    The Committee briefly interviewed Cheryl Conway for the vacant position on the Marketing Committee. Ms. Conway stated she would like to be involved with the growth of the downtown, likes the small shops and what the Agency is doing with revitalization of the downtown.

    Jim Kelly stated that communicating the mission of the Medford Urban Renewal Agency is a vital factor of the Marketing Committee.

    B. Committee Interview with Martin D. Williams

    The Committee interviewed Martin D. Williams, Manager/Operator of Porters Restaurant. Mr. Williams stated he would like to see more emphasis on excitement downtown.

    Hannelore Rippel inquired of Mr. Williams whether there should be a focus on daytime excitement first and that would lead into the evening excitement. Mr. Williams stated that before he was employed at Porters, Porters was open for lunch for approximately one year, but there was not enough business during that time to remain open hence the reason for only being open for dinner.

    Jerry Ehlers inquired of Mr. Williams? opinion whether a Convention Center should be downtown or out by the airport. Mr. Williams stated that anything that would bring the people downtown would be great.

    It was moved, seconded and approved to appoint Mr. Martin D. Williams to the Marketing Committee and to forward their recommendation to the Board.

    VOTE: Unanimous approval

    C. Video: 2005 Travelogue

    The Committee agreed to defer the presentation of the 2005 Travelogue Video to the April meeting.

    VII.
    Unfinished Business

    A. Update: ?The Taste of History?

    Eric Maxwell briefly discussed KOBI?s presentation as a sponsor for ?The Taste of History? event. Advertisement of the event will be airing in approximately two weeks.

    The Committee discussed raising the entrance fee to the event, an entrance stamp versus a wrist-band and the purchase of the wine glasses.

    The subcommittee agreed that Mr. Donovan presented helpful information for implementing ?The Taste of History? event. Eric Maxwell inquired to Staff whether funds were available and how to go about receiving those funds. Staff stated the subcommittee should submit their request for funds from the Marketing Budget to the Agency.

    The Taste of History Committee will meet March 30, 2005, at 7:30 a.m. in the MURA Conference Room.

    There was none.

    IX.
    Announcements

    Staff inquired of the Committee whether they would like to start the Marketing Committee meeting at 5:00 p.m. The majority of the Committee had no objection. Staff stated they would try it for the April meeting.

    The meeting was adjourned at 7:20 p.m.
